Day 30: More Article Distribution – The Keyword Academy Scam Experiment

(Monday July, 20th)
Due to a combination of being very busy for 2 days and very lazy for the next day, I haven’t worked on my sites in 3 days. I was feeling really guilty about this today so I got back to work. If you’ll recall, I needed to write 2 more articles for article distribution for promoting my first site. I wrote and submitted both of those today. That gives me 5 links from articles and 3 links from link exchanges. That means I have fulfilled the first month’s site promotion minimums for that site and it only took me 15 days (including the last 3 that I did nothing)!

In the Keyword Academy videos they said you are supposed to write between 5 and 10 articles per site for distribution in the first month, but that there are diminishing returns, especially above 10. If I only had the one site to work on, I might go ahead and write 10 articles instead of just the bare minimum 5. But since I have 19 other domains that need to be worked on, I think my time will be better spent working on those.

I still haven’t heard back from The Keyword Academy support team about my accidentally canceled subscription (if you missed the whole PayPal fiasco, you can read about it in day 26). But, I wrote the email late Thursday night, so they’ve really only had 2 business days to respond. When I first joined the Keyword Academy I sent an email to them through the support portal and got a same day response, but that was when my account was still active, so I’m sure that they give members priority over non-members. I’ll give them a couple more days to respond before I write again.

More good news on the Adsense front: I got a few more clicks that have brought my revenue up to $11.41! I love seeing those clicks!

One more thing: today is day 30th of The Keyword Academy Scam Experiment! (please, hold your applause) I feel that I have accomplished quite a bit this month. To commemorate this historic event :-) I’ll be writing a “first month overview” post soon. I know you’ll all be waiting with bated breath to read it.

See you next post!

Day 23: My Next Site – The Keyword Academy Scam Experiment

(Monday July, 13th)
One of the articles I wrote for the article publication site got approved and published, so “link +1” for me! The other 2 are still waiting to be reviewed.

Since my first site is complete for now, as far as content goes, I decided to start building the next one. I set up a few things in Wordpress for it, and then wrote the first article for it.

I read one of the free newsletters I have been receiving from the Keyword Academy about how farmers plant more than one seed at a time. (If you want to read it go here). The point of the analogy was that you shouldn’t put all your work into one site then just wait around to see how it does. You need to be making a lot of sites and letting them all mature together. It had a very interesting suggestion: start several sites and just get one page of content up on each. Next, set up links to those sites from any other related sites you have. Then go back and complete the sites one by one. This allows all the sites to “mature” (get into the Google index) while your completing them.

I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea, and since I have 17 other domains I’ve already registered, just sitting there with nothing but the default Wordpress content on them, I think I’ll be putting this method into practice.

Day 22: Finished videos and more article distribution – The Keyword Academy Scam Experiment

(Sunday July, 12th)
The last 2 days have been really busy so I didn’t have time to work on the experiment. Today wasn’t really a great day for it either, but I was feeling guilty about it, so I forced myself to work a little before bed.

I watched the last two videos (technically, the adsense video is last, but I’ve already watched it). The first was about a tool for article distribution. Basically, if I understood correctly, you give it 3 revisions of the same article and it will mix and match those revisions and submit them to tons of article sites. Each article of course contains links back to your site, so it helps your site rank better in search engines.

It seems like a really good idea. It stinks that you have to rewrite each article 3 times, but if you think about the alternative (rewriting it and submitting it to all those sites yourself), it’s a no-brainer. It also cost $67 a month which is uncool. I’m not sure how I’m going to squeeze that out of my very tight budget. However, according to the link building videos, I don’t want to use it until month 2 of site promotion anyway. Maybe by then my site(s) will be bringing in Adsense revenue to offset the cost a little.

The second video talks about tracking statistics on your sites. They used statcounter.com instead of Google Analytics, but I didn’t really see anything that it did that Google doesn’t. Since I’ve already installed  Google Analytics on my site, I’ll use it for now. I’ll test Stat Counter on my next site and if I like it better, I’ll switch.

Hooray! I’ve now finished watching all the core videos. Now to see how good I am at implementing them.

I also wrote one more article and submitted it to the article site. 3 down, 2-7 more to go.

Bed time!
